Frequently Asked Questions

  • Mobile physiotherapy means I come directly to you: in your home, office, or wherever you’d like me to be! I bring all of the equipment and supplies needed for comprehensive assessment and treatment of you concern(s). Sessions typically take place in a small open area within your living space - wherever you feel most comfortable. I bring a portable treatment table as well, so no need to worry about how we will do things. My main focus is bringing high-quality, thorough, and individualized care where it’s most convenient for you. Expect the same professionalism, thoroughness, and follow-up as you would in a clinic - without the need to commute, or find child care (if needed)!

  • No, a referral is not required to be seen by a physiotherapist. Physiotherapists are primary health care practitioners in Ontario, and therefore you do not need to have a prescription prior to booking an appointment.
However, some insurance plans may ask for one in order to reimburse your sessions. If you have extended health coverage, check with your provider if you’re unsure.

  • WellNest Physiotherapy provides mobile, in-home physiotherapy across Guelph/Eramosa and surrounding areas. We see clients in areas like: Rockwood, Guelph, Acton, Erin, Halton Hills, Georgetown, Fergus, Elora, Belwood, Grand Valley, Arthur, and more.
If you’re not sure whether we will come to you, please feel free to reach out and we will be happy to confirm for you!

  • Your initial assessment will begin with a detailed conversation about your areas of concern/injury, medical history, daily life, and ask questions about other areas that may be a contributor to your diagnosis and recovery. We will also talk about what your goals are to ensure we tailor any recommend treatment to getting you back to what is important to you.

Next, your physiotherapist will complete a comprehensive physical evaluation in order to diagnosis your condition and determine what other factors are playing a role.

Once those steps are completed, your physiotherapist will discuss what they’ve found and work together with you to determine an appropriate treatment plan to help you reach your goals. This will include educating you on your diagnosis, talking about how long your treatment may take, and give any recommendations for further investigations that may be warranted. If time allows and it is appropriate, we will also begin treatment at your first visit and start your individualized exercise program to help you begin your recovery.

Expect for your initial visit to last approximately 60-75 minutes.

  • At this time, we do not accept Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims, or provide physiotherapy treatment through OHIP-coverage.

  • Yes, absolutely! Our regulatory body, the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, states that every client is entitled to choose their own provider/physiotherapist.
Even if your insurance company recommended you to a specific clinic, you can still arrange to go to any physiotherapist of your choosing.

  • Comfortable, easy to move in clothing is ideal. This may also depend on the area(s) of concern that we are working on. Activewear or anything similar typically works well.

For example, if you are dealing with a shoulder issue - think about wearing a tank top or short sleeve top that is easily movable so that we can have access to the area(s) we will be assessing and/or treating.

Babies and kids can wear whatever they’re most comfortable in.

  • There is no need for anything fancy! All I’ll need is a bit of open space if possible - somewhere that will fit my portable treatment table. We can have visits in your living room, bedroom, basement … whatever feels most comfortable for you! I will always bring all of the equipment that we’ll need.

  • Payment is made after each appointment via e-transfer, credit card or debit, or cash. I provide an invoice/receipt for each visit which can be submitted to your insurance provider for re-imbursement if you have any extended health coverage.

WellNest Physiotherapy is also happy to announce that we can direct bill to most insurance providers if you would prefer that. We are happy to check if we can submit directly to your insurance at any time - just ask!

  • Pelvic floor physiotherapy will begin with a thorough discussion about your symptoms and goals (just like any other area of concern you’d get addressed by a physiotherapist). If appropriate, and only ever with your consent, we may perform an internal vaginal and/or rectal exam to better understand how your pelvic floor is functioning. Please know, you never have to have an internal exam completed if you do not consent. Assessment and treatment will always be tailored to your comfort level and individual needs and goals.

  • The short answer - yes! We can still continue with an appointment as we typically would while you are on your period. This can include still performing an internal assessment or treatment. However, if you are not comfortable, then of course we can skip the internal portions and continue working on additional pieces that are involved in your individualized treatment plan.
